Why is it sometimes hard to receive God’s help? Why is it hard to just say yes to Him?
For me, I think a variety of things have contributed to this, such as:
-A lack of trust (How can God make this better?)
-Pride
-A lack of motivation/effort
-A desire to stay down/sad
When feeling down, it can be so hard to allow myself to feel better. It takes effort that I don’t always want to put in. It can be easier to stay where I am than to climb out of the hole that I’m in emotionally, so to speak.
In the moment, it might seem like it will be hard to pull myself up, but it is always even harder to stay down. Plus, I don’t have to pull myself up all on my own. You don’t have to either.
God reaches His hand out to us for us to grab onto, and He never wants us to let go.
God is a Helper. It’s part of His nature.
Please accept His help. If you’re like me, this is not always easy to do, especially when circumstances cause us to forget how big God is.
But, as I’ve been reminded in the past, “Don’t tell God how big your problem is. Tell your problem how big your God is!”
He made the stars. He knows the number of hairs on your head (see Luke 12:7). And He is bigger than everything you have faced, are facing, and will face.
I hope you can join me in remembering that today and in meditating on the below verses:
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”
~Psalm 46:1-3 NIV
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
~Isaiah 41:10 NIV
I’ve heard some people say that they do not want to bother God with certain things, and He is busy doing more important things. I believe those statements are reflective of the type of relationship they have with God. Rather, we should understand that he does care about the “little things”. Psalm 139:17-18 reveals that He actually thinks about us… a lot! He created and controls the universe (big things), but we are constantly on His mind (with our little things). If we have an intimate relationship with Him, we should understand that He wants to help us in ALL things.
